Terrace in rocky environment

Design & Architecture

A beautiful unique house was built in Rymättylä on top of a high rock, with a great view to the sea. The dark facade was designed to complement the landscape.

Material choices

Brown-impregnated wood was used as the terrace material. To achieve a refined finish, the holes in the boards were pre-drilled. This avoids cracks and potential splitting of the wood end.

Space for every family member

The terrace was built in multiple levels so that each member of a four-person family would find a suitable place there. The upper level dining area has a cold pool for adults and a beautiful view of the river flowing by. On the lower level, children have space to play, splash in the swimming pool or build sandcastles in the sandbox.

Lighting design

The terrace lighting was designed especially with the youngest family members in mind. The stairs must have good visibility even when the evening starts to get dark.
